Is Avène cruelty-free?

Avène is one of the brands which I was not sure about their cruelty-free status. Somehow I always confused it with a cruelty-free brand which has a somewhat similar name, at least for me. So when it came to this brand I had to do my research specifically for this brand not to be confused.

Does Avène test on animals?

Is Avène owned by a parent that is not cruelty-free?

Seems that Pierre Fabre owns Avène. Unlike other parent companies, there isn’t much information about the cruelty-free status of Pierre Fabre. However, they seem to have a China website, so I doubt that it is cruelty-free.

Is Avène certified cruelty-free?

No Avène is not certified cruelty-free.

Is Avène cruelty-free?

My answer is that Avène is not cruelty-free. I will explain why through the answers for my next questions.

Does Avène sell in Mainland China?

I went to their Location page and found specifically “China” as a location in their country list. When selected, it redirects to their official Mainland China website. You might think that maybe this China website is for Hong Kong, one of the areas in China where they do not require animal testing. However, Hong Kong was also on the list, and it redirects to another Chinese website. So no China, in this case, does not mean Hong Kong. This means that Avène does sell in Mainland China.

Are Avène products in Mainland China are cosmetics?

The only 2 cosmetic types that are not considered as cosmetics in China are oral care products and soaps. On the Avène website, I could find various skincare and body care products. This means that Avène sells cosmetics in Mainland China.
