Did we have to wait until someone gets injured, to get the illegal zoo closed? Authorities pick on small ethical companies on subjects like choking hazard…

Welcome to CrueltyFreeMalta.com

Hi! I am Fiona, a Maltese cruelty-free lifestyle blogger living in Germany. This blog was created 10 years ago as part of my New Year Resolution to help anyone who wants to stop supporting brands that test on animals in Europe (mainly Germany and Malta). I hope you find it as useful as other cruelty-free individuals have. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to use the contact option. Thank you 🐰❤️

Dear @kik.de,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am your Dear @kik.de,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am your customer, and I love your products. However, I am very worried about the impact that the coronavirus is having on the people working in your supply chain.

Bloomberg News reports that major fashion brands have cancelled orders worth roughly $1.5 billion across more than 1,000 garment factories in Bangladesh since the start of the outbreak. Elsewhere there are reports of fashion brands cancelling orders and stopping payments for orders already placed. What effect is this having on garment makers who are already paid so little and have no social safety net to fall back on?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I understand that this is causing an unprecedented economic crisis and that people like me may be buying fewer clothes right now. But, now is not that time to turn your back on your suppliers and their workers.

So, please tell me #WhoMadeMyClothes and what you are doing to honour existing contracts and ensure that the people working in your supply chain are protected and compensated throughout this crisis?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sincerely,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fiona⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My ultimate goal is to create a capsule wardrobe. My ultimate goal is to create a capsule wardrobe. I told myself that the total number of clothes should fit one suitcase.

The lack of 100% plant fabric clothes helps me control this, by not buying anything new. In addition, I plan to:

✰ 𝗯𝘂𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 e.g. making sure I have around two pairs of denim, two pairs of smart trousers, two skirts, two coats, two blouses, two dresses, etc.⠀⠀

✰ 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 e.g. black, grey, brown, beige and maybe white, red and navy

I am still at the beginning of my plan and it might take me years until I accomplish my target.⠀⠀

What does your #capsuleWardrobe consist of?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As soon as I read that each piece of plastic cloth As soon as I read that each piece of plastic clothing releases an average of 70,000 microplastic into the ocean every time it is washed, I started my mission to reduce buying plastic especially clothes.

Plastic fabric include:
✰ Polyacryl / Acrylic
✰ Polyamide / Nylon
✰ Polyester

In short, whenever a material or ingredient starts with "poly-", I tend to stay away.

If you are not concerned about microplastic polluting our seas, you might be concerned that most of these microplastics are swallowed by the fish found in your sushi. Eventually ending up inside our body.

The reason I said reducing plastic fabric is that there are cases where I have to buy plastic fabric but only in the following case:

✰ the item is needed and is not available in 100% plant fabric,
✰ the item is needed but I am not planning to wash it frequently.

Some examples of this are my wedding dress, coats and jackets.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wish that these items were also available in 100% plant fabric and not plastic or animal, but until that happens I use this solution.

What is your solution to reducing plastic fabric?

When looking for some clothes to start building my When looking for some clothes to start building my new wardrobe, I am always checking what material they are made of before investing.

Due to my journey to be as much as possible vegan, I avoid animal materials. However, as I read that plastic materials are very polluting and toxic, I avoid them as much as possible too.

So currently, I buy clothes mostly when I manage to find something that I like that is 100% plant fabric or mixed with elastane. By plant fabric I mean it contains one or more of the following:

✰ 𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻 (organic would be a plus)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✰ 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✰ 𝗹𝘆𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✰ 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✰ 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗲⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These seem to be the popular plant fabrics available in the market, if you know of others please do share.
