It’s that time of the month when I receive and open my Vegan Box. The Vegan Box is a monthly subscription box which costs €14.90, if you’re sending it to a German address. In the case you want to send it to another European address, including Malta, you need to add €8 delivery charge.
Although they say that the worth of the July 2016 is €24, when I added up all the prices mentioned, I got the total of €21.55. Which led me to decide to put the subscription to a halt, considering that in 5 months I didn’t get what I have expected. I was expecting that at least once I get at least a cheese, egg or meat alternative, something that will help me completely move to veganism, since I am living in a new country and I still have to orientate myself and find the best brand for these vegan food types. Instead I’ve received every vegan-friendly product that you find, some at an even more affordable price, in every German supermarket, and which is not necessarily for vegans like flour, oil, curry paste, chutney, peanut butter, etc.
Here’s what I’ve received in my last Vegan Box:

Chips must not always be sooo unhealthy! The lentil chips from Davert are free of artificial flavors, 100% organic and not fried. Therefore, they contain 50% less fat than regular potato chips. They are only seasoned with black pepper and sea salt. The chips are perfect for when you need a healthier fun snack! - KULAU Kokoswasser “Relax” – VEGAN. ORGANIC. GLUTEN FREE. SOY FREE.
Coconut water alone has an exotic refreshment taste, along with some elder flower flavor it intensifies. Both the coconut water and the elder flower from Kulau are organic and provide the body with important minerals and liquid. - SEITENBACHER Sport-Riegel – VEGAN. GLUTEN FREE.
The perfect companion for sport! The sport bar consists of an extra number, unsulphurated fruits and roasted soy nuts. Soy is an ideal source of plant protein and particularly well suited for athletes. - SEITENBACHER Basis-Öl – VEGAN. ORGANIC. GLUTEN FREE. SOY FREE.
As the name suggests: The base oil of Seitenbacher can be the base for just about any dish! This sunflower oil is of organic quality and cold pressed. The all-rounder can be heated up to 200°C and is therefore ideal as a cooking oil. - PURE RAW Vrappé – VEGAN. ORGANIC. HANDMADE. GLUTEN FREE. SOY FREE. RAW
This is a real Vrappé taste highlight! The distinctive taste of Maca meets the sweetish bitter Cocoa powder from selected cocoa beans. Curry always goes, even in summer. When it is not possible to spend so much time indoors in the kitchen … The finished Curry of JooTi is it right here! The curry consists entirely of organic ingredients and lots of vegetables. The Vegan World magazine deals with interesting topics around veganism. It presents new products and innovative companies, and creates regularly delicious, vegan recipes. Definitely worth a look.
Since I have no income and I am paying this from my savings, I’ve decided that it’s not worth it to continue my subscription. Maybe I will move on to a competitor box called Lucky Vegan. However I am not expecting it to be better than Vegan Box, I think it’s on the same level.
