This was my second attempt at creating a cruelty-free and vegan subscription box. Although we have a lot of cruelty-free companies in Malta, it was really hard to convince most of these suppliers to sell me their products at a discount of 50% or more on the selling price. Surprisingly, hardest to convince were some of the large companies in Malta, that is why for this box I worked with some of the small companies. Most small companies that I have contacted, seem to be the ones who are really interested in making a change, they were willing to give me a price with a 50% or more discount on the selling price.
I try to ask as much as possible a discount of less more than 50% of the selling price as with the €20 that I receive from you I have other costs such as PayPal fees, the cardboard box, and fuel costs for meeting companies, picking up products and delivering boxes. This means no profit, … also maybe doing a minus.
So the bigger the discount, the higher the total worth of the box. Last month I had a brand who gave me a free product so I could better reach closer to double the selling price of the products. This month, unfortunately, I wasn’t that lucky. I hope to get lucky next month.
