Is Essence Cosmetics cruelty-free?

Since I ran out of animal testing brands to investigate, I thought I start explaining why I and many others consider cruelty-free brands as cruelty-free. Today, I thought of starting with German brand essence cosmetics, a brand which I have been supporting these last 9 years. As you might know, essence cosmetics are cruelty-free. However, let’s find out why and any other information you might have not known about this brand.

Does Essence Cosmetics test on animals?

Is Essence Cosmetics owned by a parent that is not cruelty-free?

Essence Cosmetics is owned by Cosnova. This is what Cosnova states about their animal testing policy:

“cosnova has never performed or commissioned animal testings at any time in its history. We have always been close to the topic of animal welfare, which is why we have voluntarily renounced animal testing right from the beginning and even before the introduction of the legal ban.  cosnova continues to produce good and safe products without letting any animal suffer!”

This confirms that Cosnova does not test on animals. I have not found any information about them selling cosmetics in Mainland China. So it seems that Cosnova is cruelty-free.

Is Essence Cosmetics certified cruelty-free?

Yes, essence cosmetics is listed on PETA’s cruelty-free list. This means that Essence Cosmetics is certified cruelty-free.

Does Essence Cosmetics sell in China?

Is Essence Cosmetics vegan?

While Essence Cosmetics is not an all-vegan brand, it does have some vegan-friendly products. Should you be interested, you can check out my Essence Cosmetics SS 2020 vegan list.

So as you can see, all this confirms that Essence Cosmetics is cruelty-free. If you would like to read more about Essence Cosmetics’ animal testing policy, I will leave the links below. They have a whole page with a detailed explanation, showing us how serious they are about this issue.

If there is a brand you want me to investigate for you, let me know. As always I will be very happy to help. 🙂
