It is starting to become a trend in Malta where cafe’s start to offer plant milk as an alternative to dairy milk. Some offer it at an extra cost and some offer it at no extra cost. However, I don’t mind paying 50c more for coffee with a dairy-free milk. I am not a coffee-lover or coffee-addict, I would rather take tea. However, for those times where I need to keep myself alert, I buy myself a cup of vegan latte macchiato. It’s the only coffee I drink as it has a slight taste of coffee since the milk dilutes it. If you are vegan and like your coffee diluted with plant milk too here are the vegan-friendly cafes in Malta which I have discovered up till now.

Since my arrival on #Malta, today was my first opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy my short visit. I was getting a bit hungry as I had only taken orange juice and peppermint tea in the morning. So I started looking for a #veganfriendly place to snack. Arriving at Balluta, I passed by a cafe which I was going to ignore it and keep on walking to the next outlet, but something caught my eye. A sign was saying "Coconut, Soya, Almond @ Cafe Goloso". So I went back to check their wall menu and decided to take a Classic Bruschetta (€ 2.50) with my #vegan #LatteMacchiato (€2.10). Since I chose #almondmilk as my #dairyfreemilk alternative, the coffee tasted like marzipan rather than the usual almond milk taste. I suspect that maybe they added almond flavoring, to makeup for the lack of dairy. However, it tasted good to me, the tea drinker. Finally, #vegancoffee options at the #MaltaAirport! While waiting for my flight I like to take a #LatteMacchiato to keep me awake throughout the whole journey. I am more of a #tealover than a #coffeelover. That's why I take the only #coffee drink that is heavily diluted with milk. Till last year I was looking for the cheapest latte macchiato option at the airport. Now that I am vegan, I look for the vegan one. Luckily, @costacoffeemalta are offering the possibility to take your coffee with #veganmilk. It's like they knew that I will be converted to veganism this year! So I have ordered a normal sized #Latte with #Almondmilk (€3.10). Unlike most coffee places in #Malta, #CostaCoffee don't add an extra charge for choosing a different milk which I think is great. The only disadvantage that I have found with #CostaCoffeeMalta is limitations with #veganfood options. They did have #energyballs and other #vegansweets. However, I felt like eating a sandwich or baguette but couldn't find any vegan ones. Maybe it's something that they would consider in the future??? However, I appreciate that they took the first step to offer vegan coffee options at the airport. After hearing a lot about @manouchecraftbakery and their #veganoptions, I have decided to check it out. I ordered a regular #VeganLatte (€2.50) with #coconutmilk as they didn't have any almond milk. They did have a #veganmuffin and if I am not mistaken also #veganmacarons. However, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any savoury #veganfood. Somehow everytime I take a latte macchiato I feel like something savoury. The availability of #VeganLatteMacchiato seems to be growing in #Malta. Not even in a small German city that I lived in during these last two years could I find #VeganLatte in coffee shops. Last week I ordered a Vegan Latte (€2.40) from the newly @caffepascucci_malta in #BallutaBay. Unfortunately, they had only #soyamilk as a milk alternative. I would have preferred #almondmilk. A bigger drawback is that they had no #veganfood to accompany the latte macchiato. They suggested their plain croissants but as far as I know croissants have butter unless you're specifically having Lidl's vegan croissants. However, serving #veganmilk is already a plus for me. I am thinking of creating a blog post that lists cafés that serve vegan milk alternatives in Malta and #Gozo.
