After 13:35 we finally land in Stansted Airport. I have been looking forward to this holiday for more than a year, since I didn’t consider my flights to Germany as holiday and since this is the first holiday with my boyfriend outside our motherlands.
As soon as we entered the airport premises we took the monorail which took us to the passenger terminal. Once inside the passenger terminal we had to pass customs by scanning our European e-passport photo through a machine and let the machine scan also or take a picture of our face.
Next step was to withdraw pounds from the airport ATM and pick up our checked in luggage from the baggage reclaim belt.
I always try to prepare myself before going abroad and browse for the lowest possible rates for anything that we will need. That is how I found our airport transfer to London city centre.
After lots of research I have found a £6 service per person and per way on easybus.co.uk to Stratford London.
To catch our 14:50 bus to London center we needed to go down one level then look for our bus to Stratford in Bay 13. The bus, operated by Airport Bus Express, left the bay at 14:57.
Once at Stratford we bought a tube day ticket (£12.10) and took the tube to London City Airport DLR.
We then had a 8 minute walk to the Travelodge London City Airport Hotel, which I had booked for £39 per room per night.
After checking in at Travelodge, we took the bus back to Stratford to look for a place to eat. At first we were going to eat at Pizza Hut, however after seeing that the individual pizzas costed more than the ones at our hotel, we agreed to look inside Stratford Centre for a cheaper food outlet, then if not we go to Pizza Hut.
We found a noodle fast food place called Chopstix where I ordered a regular Vegetable Noodles (£3) and a Sprite (£1.50).
After dinner we went around the shopping centre there was Superdrug, The Body Shop, Lidl and Poundland among other shops. I bought some Swizzles candy packs (£1 each) from Poundland and 2 liter bottle of still water (35p) from Lidl. I was considering to buy Superdrug’s hair dye which is BUAV approved but I thought of thinking about it further then buy it next time I am in Stratford or Superdrug.
It was then already close to 20:00 so we headed back to Stratford station and took the DLR back to the hotel.
That’s all about yesterday. Today I will be visiting a natural products trade fair with a friend. Will tell you all about it tomorrow!
