No Poo Hair Cleaning Method

No Poo Method

In these last few months, I have tried out a lot of shampoos. As you might have read in my previous hair post, one shampoo managed to strengthen my hair. However, it made my scalp itchy. While the other shampoo treated my itchy scalp, it didn’t work as fast as the other shampoo to strengthen my hair. So I am considering to start the no poo method as soon as I finish my collection of shampoos.

With the no poo method one is required to wash hair with just water once a month. Since my hair gets dirty fast with oils and sweat, I am afraid to just use water. So I googled some no poo recipes.

I am thinking of using this baking soda spray recipe:

  • Mix about 1 tablespoon of baking soda in about 1 cup of water. Store in a spray or squirt bottle (non-plastic is best). This amount is 1-3 applications (depending on your hair).

Then I rinse it with this apple cider vinegar spray recipe:

  • Mix 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water.
  • Spray generously on your hair focusing on the ends, let sit for a minute or two, rinse.

Since I have around 5 shampoos to finish off, I am planning to start the no poo method at around autumn. I think that it is the best time as I will manage to empty some glass spray bottles in the meantime. It is also the best time as while I am in Malta during Summer, I can look for a big bag of baking soda to take with me since in Germany I could only find small sachets.

Have you tried the no poo method? What tips can you give me?
