These last few months, I had been feeling my hair weak. What I mean by weak is that every time I washed my hair, I had to unclog the shower. The reason was that I was losing a lot of hair. The other symptom was that my hair felt as if I was having a daily blow dry, it felt so flat, light and thin. I had to start looking for vegan hair products for my damaged hair.
In the meantime, I decided to cut my own hair. Yes, since my move to Germany I have been cutting and dyeing my own hair to save money. Dyeing my own hair might be one cause of my damaged hair. However, I don’t afford to dye it in a German salon as their prices are twice the prices of Malta. So will have to do it myself and maybe ruin my hair in the process.
Cutting my hair didn’t seem to make a difference, so I continued my search for vegan hair treatments. Luckily, I found a Lush product which was suggested to me by the Malta Lush Group, that seemed to have worked.
Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease Hair Treatment
I am not a believer in Lush products and I never understood why people want Lush products in Malta when we have other good brands in Malta. However, this product made me a bit of a believer. After about 2 months of applying this product before I wash my hair, I started seeing less hair in the shower. The drawback of this product is that it makes my scalp itchy already the next day, indicating that although I wash my hair, some of the product still stays on the hair. That is one reason I have stopped it this month. I am planning to resume to using it next time that I dye my hair.
Lush Godiva Shampoo Bar
After seeing a viral video on Facebook about Lush’s Godiva Shampoo Bar, I felt the urge to buy this shampoo bar. One reason is that I love 2-in-1 products and this product is not only a shampoo but also a conditioner. The second reason was that it was named after Lady Godiva, indicating that it helps in growing strong hair. I was using this bar together with the Lush hair treatment. Like this, I can’t tell which product really worked in strengthening my hair, or whether it’s one product or both of them together that helped in doing so. However, I had to move on to using them separately as my scalp was itchier when using them together and my hair looked dirty as soon as it dried after washing. Just like the hair treatment I stopped using this product because of the itchiness and will resume to using it next time that I dye my hair.
Handmade Naturals Shampoos and Conditioner
Handmade Naturals’ shampoos and conditioner didn’t seem to help in strengthening my damaged hair. Maybe they were and I was too impatient that I wanted a product that worked faster. However, the Handmade Naturals’ Shampoos are the only vegan shampoos that don’t give me an itchy scalp up till now. I don’t know of another brand that my scalp loves. So if you happen to know of another brand, do suggest it. It’s good for the hair to switch shampoos every now and then.

After using these products it takes weeks until my hair clogs the shower also my hair has now a bit of volume. When it was damaged, it was flat and for my face shape, it’s good to have volume. After I finish the Lush hair treatment, I am thinking of trying out other vegan hair products till I find something that works just as good and leaves my scalp less itchy. I was recently suggested to try The Body Shop’s Banana Hair Mask, what is your opinion on this product? Do you have any suggestions for products?
