Welcome to CrueltyFreeMalta.com

Hi! I am Fiona, a Maltese cruelty-free lifestyle blogger living in Germany. This blog was created 10 years ago as part of my New Year Resolution to help anyone who wants to stop supporting brands that test on animals in Europe (mainly Germany and Malta). I hope you find it as useful as other cruelty-free individuals have. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to use the contact option. Thank you 🐰❤️

I never expected morning sickness to be this bad! I never expected morning sickness to be this bad! It feels like I experienced a bit of everything: food aversions, smell aversions, nausea and the result of it. 😫

Two things that made these symptoms of morning sickness a bit bearable were seeing our little one's tiny heartbeat on the ultrasound screen and filling up #theBalanceQueen's #BabyPlanner.

I had wanted to buy this planner since it launched but as I was not sure whether we ever get a baby, I waited.

When the time came, I was not then sure whether to buy it as the planner plus shipping costs from Malta to Germany was above my budget. I did look for cheaper ones on Amazon.

However, as the saying says "you get what you pay for". I already had an idea what sections to expect on The Balance Queen one and was not sure if the cheaper ones have the sections I was looking forward to.

So to avoid getting disappointed for wasting my money on a cheap planner that I had no idea about and most possibly I won't like, I opted for the familiar one.

If you are going through a similar dilemma and have some questions about this planner, please ask me. Also if you would be interested I could write a review about it, as there aren't any yet.

We are pregnant! ... or better ... We are expectin We are pregnant! ... or better ... We are expecting a baby! 👶🏻 ... as I am the one who is pregnant in reality. 😆

Being in my mid-30s I was already thinking it's won't be a possibility. So when we suspected the possibility, we bought one of each different pregnancy test we could find at the supermarket to be sure. Yes in Germany some pharmaceutical products are accessible in supermarkets. 🛒

Next morning I tried one of the tests and in less than 5 minutes it was already showing positive. 😀

As it was December when we first confirmed the pregnancy, I called it our "Christmas miracle". Later I found out that it was already in the works in November so I started calling it my "Birthday gift". 🎁

Some things I noticed about #pregnancyTests are that pregnancy tests are not that ethical:
• just like any pharmaceutical product, known cruelty-free ones don't yet exist
• vegan ones also don't yet exist
• for some reason most of them come covered in some hard plastic case. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I could find one #pregnancytest from the brand #Pregnafix which you can say it's a bit ethical next to the rest in the sense that it has too little plastic next to the others, and it works just as good. 🌍

So the next time I need a pregnancy test if nothing more ethical is introduced to the market I will go for this model again. 👌🏻

Haven't we learnt yet? How I see it is that someh Haven't we learnt yet?

How I see it is that somehow "progress" is moving us to a world where every natural thing is replaced by a synthetic alternative.

While synthetic material such as plastic might have been a great invention at the time, years later, we found out that it has lots of environmental issues. Plastic doesn't stop at straws, plates, bags and cutlery. It is found even inside food (like chewing gum), inside cosmetics and as a cheap textile. We "now" are discovering that all of these examples have created health issues for nature and to us humans.

In my opinion, we should have learnt by now that we should not replace nature with synthetic alternatives.

However, some months ago, I heard the news that to avoid animal cruelty, lab-grown meat is introduced.

Ok, with this invention, fewer animals are killed and tortured but is it really an ethical solution? Will, we later find out that it causes health issues to us or damage to the environment?

If someone is serious about cutting down on meat why not find a more natural alternative than something lab-grown? With the introduction of cuisines such as Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc, there are lots of tasty dishes that don't involve meat.

What are your thoughts?

Cruelty-free for life! Although I temporarily ren Cruelty-free for life!

Although I temporarily renamed my accounts, my number one priority is still to support brands that don't support animal testing.

One reason is that to me, after 10 years, this has become as normal as breathing. The other reason is that, during my Sabbatical, I have noticed that my work on the subject is not yet complete.

There are some of you, who think that a vegan range of a brand that supports animal testing, guarantees that the same range is not tested on animals. The company might make you think it is so, as no company boasts that they support animal testing.

However, in reality, there is no guarantee that that particular product or some of its ingredients were not tested on animals if the brand as a whole is known to support animal testing.

So I am still here to help you understand better the topic. If you have any questions about this, please comment or DM.
