The cold that lasted not more than 3 days!

About three weeks ago, on Monday 2nd of December I woke up with my nose blocked. This was the first sign of a cold! Not wanting to get sick that week, since on Friday the company I work with was organising a huge staff party, I bought and used all of cruelty-free remedies that I could find that week.

To my relief, on Wednesday the cold was nearly gone, and during the rest of the week I felt as if I never had a cold that week, which made me wonder whether it was really a cold or just an allergy.

Just to use as a guide, the following are the cruelty-free products I’ve used and helped me to cure in less than 3 days …

Biona Apple Cider Vinegar 750ml @ € 2.90

Whenever I feel the first symptoms of a cold, I always try to take at least 3 times a day a glass of water mixed with 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon pure honey.

I discovered this remedy while I was sick a year ago, where I tried lots of natural remedies but only this remedy and maybe 2 others seemed to work. The disadvantage about this remedy is that it’s not suitable for vegans since it has honey. Since I am still new to the vegan diet, I still don’t know what is the right alternative for honey for this particular recipe.

Fisherman’s Friend Aniseed Lozenges @ €0.61

Usually, at the first symptom of a cold, I buy a packet of Halls Mentholyptus Extra Strong (the black packaging one). However since I am starting to become obsessed about eating healthy, etc, I decided to find a healthier alternative to Halls.
I don’t really know if Halls is healthy or not but I till now I have never found Halls in any health shop I visited. However, I did find packets of Fisherman’s Friend Aniseed Lozenges. Therefore I bought a packet.
These lozenges were developed especially to protect fisherman, who encounter extreme sea conditions, from getting sick.

Naturally Cool Kids Breathe-Easy Vapour Stick @ €10.42

As you might know the Vicks Vapour Rub is not cruelty-free, therefore I have tried to look for a cruelty-free alternative.
However I managed to find and buy not only a cruelty-free alternative but also a natural one from the cruelty-free brand Naturally Cool Kids.
The scent of the Naturally Cool Kids Breathe-Easy Vapour Stick is different from and is not as strong as the Vicks one.
This vapour stick is targeted to kids but my theory is that what’s good for kids, is good also for adults.
Since it is a stick form and not a balm, it is easy to apply and you don’t need to get your hands “dirty” when applying it.

Weleda Rhinodoron Nasal Spray [V] @ € 9.65

I had forgotten that I had this spray at home, so on Tuesday I started using this spray.
The Weleda Rhinodoron Nasal Spray always helped me cure my colds.

Weleda Skin Food @ € 12.71

With all the nose blowing, my nose skin was becoming red and flaky.
I applied the Weleda Skin Food on my nose after every time I blowed my nose, to avoid looking sick, and eventually it worked.

By using only the above five products, I managed to cure my cold in less than 3 days.

If I haven’t started curing myself from the first symptom, I would have missed the staff party and stayed at home with warm vegetable soup and a big box of tissues :'(

But I was lucky and managed to do a quick recovery without the need of going to a doctor and buy the non-cruelty-free medicine s/he might prescribe.
